About Sibelco & Unimin
About SibelcoFounded in 1872, Sibelco has grown into a truly multinational business, today operating 228 production sites in 41 countries with a team of around 10,000 people. We work closely with our customers to create real value, drawing on the Group’s global resources and expertise to deliver local solutions.
When our business began, Sibelco’s focus was on mining quartz sand for Belgium’s glass producers. These days we extract and process a broad range of non-metallic industrial minerals, all of which are being continuously developed to meet the ever changing needs of manufacturers in a wide range of industries.
Like the markets we serve, our business is constantly changing. However we continuously maintain the ethos of a private company with decentralized management, short and flexible decision lines, a long-term investment horizon and an outstanding record of employee relations.
About Unimin
Founded in 1970, Unimin Corporation has grown from a small, local sand mining company to become a leading producer of non-metallic industrial minerals in the worldwide Sibelco Group. Our products are the fundamental building blocks of nearly every manufacturing and industrial process.
We're a worldwide supplier to the glass, ceramic and lighting industries, to oil and natural gas service companies, and to paint, plastic, rubber and composite manufacturers. Our high purity quartz products are the starting point for the world's semiconductor and solar photovoltaic cell production. We're also an integral supplier to the metallurgical and foundry industries, and we participate in a wide range of civil, industrial, environmental and building-related applications. Our products touch the lives of millions of people daily.
Quality and innovation are at the foundation of Unimin; but our real strength is our employees. Unimin employs a diverse and highly skilled team of professionals to convert natural mineral resources into engineered customer solutions. We are an application-focused company, drawing from a synergistic product portfolio and the global production capabilities of the Sibelco Group to deliver performance and value for our customers.
From the food and beverages we consume to the energy that powers our lives, Unimin plays a central role in the production, preparation and delivery of life's necessities and luxuries. For our customers, employees, neighbors and other stakeholders, Unimin stands for leadership, continuity and commitment . . . now and in the future.

Pictured (bottom right): the Native Grass Habitat project is an example of our commitment to our communities and the environment. In 1999 Unimin set aside 494 acres in Gleason, Tennessee for land and wildlife habitat enhancement projects. In partnership with the University of Tennessee, the project is recreating farmland and rolling landscapes that incorporate native grasses and wildflowers. Local elementary and middle school students, as well as scout troops, are among the many groups who benefit from this program.
